Fillings treat cavities and help restore form and function. Local anesthetic is used for comfort when appropriate.
Our brochure lists white composite fillings, which are matched to the shade of your tooth. What is appropriate for a particular tooth is decided at your examination.
Good to know
Before you come in.
A filling is the common way to treat a cavity or tooth decay. Placing one early keeps minor decay from spreading bacteria further into the tooth’s pulp.
You may need a filling if you have
- A chipped tooth
- Space between two teeth
- A cracked or broken tooth
- A decayed or worn tooth
What the appointment involves
An exam first
We look at the tooth and review with you whether a filling is the right treatment for it.
Numbing the area
Local anesthetic is applied to numb the area so that you are comfortable throughout the procedure.
Placing the filling
The filling is placed to the shape and function of your own tooth. The procedure itself takes up to an hour, which makes it relatively quick.
